SAFETY SCORES

WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN THE SAFE OPERATION OF OUR FLEET AND WE HAVE THE SCORES TO PROVE IT.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has developed 7 Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs) to measure carrier safety performance. All carriers are grouped by size and fleet utilization and compared against their peers. The general public can view carrier BASIC scores by going online to www.csa.fmcsa.dot.gov and searching their desired carrier. We have provided our scores below in the three most common areas of concern.

UNSAFE DRIVING

21%

Coastal Carriers out performs 79% of 4000 carriers of similar size and utilization. This BASIC encompasses all moving violations and does not always result in a citation being issued to the driver.

HOURS OF SERVICE

52%

Coastal Carriers out performs 48% of 5800 carriers of similar size and utilization. This BASIC encompasses all violations related to the amount of time a driver is allowed to driver or be on duty.  This is an area we are working hard to improve.

VEHICLE MAINTANCE

11%

Coastal Carriers out performs 89% of 23,000 carriers of similar size and utilization. This BASIC encompasses all violations related to the repair and maintenance of equipment and includes equipment that has been lease on from Owner Operators.
